AXA Art Charity Auction

On Thursday 24th November Gillian, Megan and Christopher attended AXA Art’s Charity Auction which was looking to raise money for the PWSA; the charity that supports children with Prader-Willi Syndrome. A range of lots were available comprising damaged works of art that AXA Art has settled claims on, as well as a few other pieces for good measure. In total the auction raised over £19,000 a fantastic amount for this charity.

Young Masters Closing Reception

Young Masters is all about new artistic talents referencing Old Master inspiration in the work produced. A great range of work on show and an insight into what can be expected in 2012.

Affordable Art Fair – Hampstead

Wednesday 26 October Jill and Lorraine visited the second weeks Affordable Art Fair in the new location in Hampstead, London courtesy of an invitation from fair Director, Nicky Wheeler. Having a lot of clients in the Hampstead area we were very excited to see this new fair in such a lovely setting on the Heath. A bright and buzzy evening in the heart of Hampstead which we hope will become a regular event on the fair calendar.

Forbes Collection at Old Battersea House

Set in wonderous grounds by the river, Old Battersea House was home to the Forbes Collection for the private viewing hosted by Lyon & Turnbull on Friday evening. Well laid out and in excellent condition the collection shows a range in collecting tastes over varied periods. The collection contains many pictures and paintings with a strong royal theme as well as good quality silver and antique furniture. The sale is set for 1 November 2011 in the Edinburgh auction rooms of Lyon & Turnbull.

Agrical’s Richard Wakeham and Nigel Collinson along with other members of the Agrical team hosted a conference at the Clothworkers Hall in London focusing on the Art & Private Client sectors. The speakers; Charles Hill (Artrisk), Roger Corp (BCH), Piers Boothman (Christies), Brian Ridout (Ridout Associates) and Dick Ellis (Art Management Group) all provided interesting, engaging and relevant talks relating to security protection of fine art, valuations of period properties, valuations of high value items, mositure control for listed & historic properties and art loss recovery. Many of these factors are encountered on a regular basis by owners of artworks, heritage properties and high value items and this conference was a very well put together event addressing this issues for professional advisors to these types of client.
